My post is coming in a little later than usual today as this morning has been super rough. Everything was seemingly going so well - woke up earlier than normal, was feeling really energetic, and the boyfriend and I decided to go downtown together for coffee before work. Sounded like an excellent plan and a great way to make the day feel shorter and happier.
Only problem is - it didn't turn out well at all. I mean, it could have turned out way worse, but still. So what horror of all horrors happened? I backed into a post. Seriously. I somehow failed to notice the concrete post behind me and I backed my shiny new car that I got for my birthday straight into it. BANG! The sound was horrible, it was so loud. I was convinced the back of my car had completely caved in. I was paralyzed with fear, I shifted into drive, pulled forward and then I just lost it. I was terrified to go outside and see the damage but I somehow managed to pull myself shaking from the car around the back to see what I had done.
Luckily, I hit the strongest part of the bumper at a low speed - so nothing was caved in or dented. There are however dozens of tiny little scratches/scrapes in the paint which show up a lot because the car is black :(
My morning was totally ruined, and my boyfriend spent our whole coffee date trying to calm me down and reassure me that it really wasn't that bad. I agree it could have been so much worse, but it is still what I think to be some pretty serious paint damage on my previously ding/dent/chip free baby.

We're hoping that with a good rubbing compound/buffer that most of the paint dings will come out as they might just be in the clearcoat. I really hope so...
I feel like that Nationwide insurance commercial where the car is my baby that I'm always pampering and then it hits the fire hydrant and I don't know what to do.

Anyways, I just wanted to get that story off my chest, I am honestly so embarrassed with myself for letting it happen. It was an accident - but still, I feel awful :(
Hope your day is going better!
