It's Wednesday! I like Wednesday - it feels like the momentum of the week shifts towards the weekend, and I am always looking forward to the weekend (Who isn't?)! So, last night I was getting ready to go to the gym, but I just wasn't feeling that well. My throat was a little achy and I just felt kind of sluggish. I decided it would probably be best not to push myself too hard so I decided to grab the boyfriend bundle up for the 62 degree California cold (haha) and we headed out for a brisk 2.5 mile walk. It was kind of nice. I still felt like I got some activity in, and it gave us a chance to catch up and just talk. We got to talking about goals for the year and it really made me start thinking about what I really want to accomplish not only this year but in the upcoming years as well. I feel like for the past couple of years I have just been floating through day by day just focusing on making it through to the next one.. |
Which brings me to my first goal for the year, and it is probably the most important one.
BALANCE. I really want to focus this year on leading a more balanced life. I have had the tendency to focus so much on work that I really don't get to experience the other areas of my life. I just let myself get so consumed by work, thinking about what needs to be done, what could be done better, how to advance to the next level, etc. I end up coming home from work but still thinking about work and then being so exhausted by it that I can't put much energy towards other goals I have and it has affected my ability to lead a healthy lifestyle. |
So, this year I'm really trying to make more time for the things I've let slide. I've started by really trying to leave work at the office. That way I can come home, relax/decompress a bit and then be ready to something that makes me happier, healthier, and allows me to move towards a more fulfilling (and less stressful) life!
